SOBA DMV Chapter

About Us

Sasse Old Boys Association (SOBA) America has seen a steady growth over the past 25 years, from only a handful of chapters to eleven chapters. The SOBA DMV chapter is a non-profit alumni association, whose members are ex-students of Saint Joseph College SASSE, Buea, Cameroon, residing in DC, Maryland, Virginia. We also have members residing in Delaware, NJ and NY.

SOBA DMV is the oldest chapter of SOBA America and Sasse Alumni Assoc. Inc;  a 501 (c) organization functioning in absolute compliance with the US IRS laws that govern such bodies. It is the non- profit arm of SOBA America.

As the chapter with the most Sobans in the US, SOBA DMV has the luxury of having members from the earliest classes, with members enjoying a common sense of familiarity and camaraderie with each other regardless of their years of attendance.

Membership is open to all ex-students of SJC who have paid their $100 annual registration dues. The $100 dues is the primary source for funds for most of the projects of the chapter in addition to fundraisers organized by the chapter. Members who have paid their dues are eligible for all member benefits such as death and bereavements.

Welcome Message from the President of SOBA Washington Metro (DMV)

Greetings Sobans, Sobaneses, families and well wishers,

The most anticipated Convention in SOBA history is here. There is no coincidence that the largest chapter in the union was destined to be the host of this monumental event. Comprising the three states of DC, MD and VA, SOBA Washington Metro (DMV) is uniquely placed to offer a never before seen experience to Sobans and their families during our memorial day weekend convention: a unique and First Ever “One Week” Convention spanning 7 days from Sunday May 19th to Monday May 26th.

We officially welcome you to the great and historical city of Baltimore aka Charm City, home of NFL champs Baltimore Ravens and MLB Baltimore Orioles. Birthplace of the Star Spangled banner (Fort McHenry) and Babe Ruth. The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland’s State capital, is only a few minutes away from Downtown Baltimore.

The White House, Congress, Pentagon and numerous historical museums and landmarks are only a 45 minutes drive away to Washington DC and Virginia for those interested to see outside of beautiful Baltimore city. Charm City, known for its excellent seafood and crabs is uniquely placed to provide the best experience to you ever.

Located in the heart of downtown Baltimore and just a walking distance to the Inner Harbor, with view of Orioles Park at Camden yards, the Hilton Inner Harbor at Baltimore Convention Center is the perfect abode for Sobans and their family during this much anticipated weekend. The National aquarium, Horseshoe casino, multiple historic museums and landmarks are only a stone throw away.

We are very confident that you will have a great time with us here in Charm City and we are looking forward to seeing you come May 24th.

Ekole Fonjungo,
